Evan Gurley
MA, Professional Counselor Associate
I am an Associate Professional Counselor in the state of Oregon, with a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. I specialize in working with those struggling from Anxiety and Mood disorders.
I am available for Individual counseling with adults and children. I also offer group counseling; look for upcoming groups on the Two Sparrows Counseling website.
I enjoy helping you understand yourself better, illuminating the obstacles to your happiness, discovering healthy coping skills together, assisting you to meet your needs in life, and empowering you to do these things yourself.
My primary theoretical perspective for counseling is Attachment Theory, which focuses on building healthy attachments with other people. However, I also employ Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, which I see as essential in learning healthy coping skills, Psychodynamics, which helps us learn about how we are shaped by our past experiences and encourages us to express emotion openly, and Karen Horney’s theory of neurosis, which explains how we change unhelpful values and beliefs by becoming aware of them and engaging in corrective relationships.
I am inclusive of all people from all walks of life and will strive to understand your differences as well as similarities to me and connect with you.
