Haley Richter, MA
Professional Counselor Associate
Do you often find yourself feeling overwhelmed or burnt out? Are you struggling with important relationships in your life? Are you curious about exploring your gender or sexual identity further?
Life is constantly bringing changes, through relationships, aging, jobs, and new responsibilities, asking us to reconsider our identity and the roles that we play in the world. Together we can explore the challenges of life’s transitions and identity exploration to help you feel more at ease with yourself.
I believe that you are the expert of your own story and I am here to listen. I approach each new client with curiosity and respect, aiming to create a therapy space that feels collaborative and inviting, yet safe enough for a gentle challenge when needed. Together we will work to explore and express new emotions, identify ongoing patterns in your relationships, and look at core beliefs that may not be serving you right now. Sessions can be flexible and tailored to what works best for your healing process. You can bring in any type of creative expression that speaks to you, including journaling, poetry, music, art, fashion, tarot, or anything else that supports a deeper understanding of your internal world. I specialize in working with LGBTQ+ folks, people wanting to explore relationships, sex, intimacy, kink, BDSM, and alternative relationship structures, and folks with body image concerns. I work from a feminist lens and always keep a body liberation framework at the forefront of my work.
Our problems can often stem from the systems that we are a part of and interact with everyday. My aim is to get to know you as an individual, as well as understand the systems that you are a part of, including family, community, and impactful relationships. I use a relational and holistic approach to therapy that is based in Person-Centered therapy, often pulling from Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) and Gestalt interventions. I hold a Master’s degree in Professional Mental Health Counseling from Lewis & Clark College of Education and Counseling and have clinical experience working with trauma, PTSD, sex, relationships, intimacy, ADHD, body image concerns, and identity exploration.
In my free time, you can find me making music, thrifting, and working on whatever new craft I have recently decided to start! If you’re ready to begin your therapy journey, reach out today for a free phone consultation!
